In today’s video we are going to discuss solenoid valve working principle (operation) and different types of solenoid valves that everyone should know who wants to learn basic instrumentation. Now we will see what a solenoid valve is and how it works this should be known by every technician who works in industry. It is an electro-mechanical valve that is commonly used to control the flow of liquid or gas. This valve features a solenoid, which is an electric coil with a movable plunger in its center. In the normal position i.e., de-energized condition, the plunger closes off a small orifice and when energized, the electric current through the coil creates a magnetic field. This magnetic field exerts an upwards force on the plunger opening the orifice allowing the flow. Here I am showing the animation of the solenoid valve when energized & de-energized condition, for easy understanding. These are very useful in process control and electrical also. General type of solenoid valve we use in Industries are Asco and many more
