MDT या उपचार पूर्ण करने के बावजूद भी शरीर पर नए दाग क्यों बनते हैं . In this video, we discussed the reasons that can cause new patches to appear after completing leprosy treatment. One of the main reasons is a weak immune system, which is unable to produce antibodies against M. leprae, the bacteria that causes leprosy. When the immune system is compromised, new skin lesions can develop.
There are two main types of reactions that can occur, leading to the formation of new patches. The first type is called a lepra reaction or reversal reaction. It occurs when there is an overactive immune system or an increase in cell-mediated immunity. In this case, macrophage cells attack the pathogen (M. leprae), as well as the surrounding tissues and nerves. This immune response results in inflammation of the skin and potential nerve damage, leading to deformities.
The second type of reaction is known as lepra reaction 2 or erythematous nodosum leprosum. It is caused by the deposition of immune complexes in the body. When more antibodies are produced against the antigen, they can accumulate and form immune complexes, which contribute to the development of new skin lesions.
Apart from these immune-related factors, there are other reasons that can lead to the appearance of new patches after leprosy treatment. These include discontinuing the multi-drug therapy (MDT), initiating MDT, instability of the immune system, and various environmental factors.
