Ingredients:
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- Water (as needed)
- Salt (to taste)
For chokha:
- 4 medium-sized potatoes
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes
- 2 medium-sized onions
- 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon mustard oil
- Salt (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour, ghee, and salt. Mix well using your hands until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
2. Gradually add water and knead the mixture to form a firm dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
4. Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls and flatten them with your hands to form discs.
5. Place the discs on a baking tray and bake them in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
6. While the littis are baking, prepare the chokha.
7. Boil the potatoes until they are tender. Peel and mash them in a bowl.
8. Roast the tomatoes directly on the flame until their skin turns black. Remove the skin and mash the tomatoes.
9. Finely chop the onions and add them to the mashed potatoes and tomatoes.
10. Add chopped green chilies, mustard oil, salt, red chili powder, and roasted cumin powder to the mixture. Mix well.
11. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
12. Serve the littis hot with chokha on the side.
